Beautiful green... I don't think I ever saw fresh betel leaves before. So the nuts get chewed throughout southeast asia as a stimulant, but what do they do with the leaves ???
Was too curious to wait for an answer, so went and looked it up, now I understand a little more, actually it is the betel leaves which are chewed along with the areca nut, so common mistake is to speak of betel nuts, which is what I'd always heard or seen written in stories about southeast Asia... a stimulant, breath-freshener, cure for worms and indigestion, even supposed to be an aphrodisiac. Maybe that can help explain why there are one billion people in India now ? :-)
Voilà qui me ramène au Vietnam, où les femmes mâchent le bétel en guettant, accroupis, les éventuels acheteurs de fruits au marché. Quel plaisir de mettre nos pas dans vos pas! A bientôt Maia

She is touching the leaves so gently, with reverence. What a wonderful picture to show such emotions in a pair of hands ...
