Indian Souls Photography Exhibition/ Retour sur l'expo !

Done! The exhibition at the Canadian High Commission went well and Arnaud and I had lots of success. Especially since we displayed for the very first time (almost...) our brand new POSTCARDS!

This post is an opportunity for Special Thanks to:

Within Modern India, Middle Class people have the possibility to live in brand new towers. Very close, some mobile families live at the foot of the constructions in progress, using makeshift camps. Cohabitation is amazing.

There would be so much to say about women in India. Indiaphragme is a place where to SEE with your own eyes, through the prism which is mine... therefore I believe you could see some aspects of woman's life here in India.

Restos du Coeur et le Monde des Blogs - "Restaurants from the Heart" & Blog's Worlds

For those who live in France, les "Restos du Coeur" will be very familiar to you. For the 25th consecutive year, they are run by volunteers who distribute free meals (among some other actions) to the poor and homeless during winter months (but not only)...

There is currently an interesting initiative - thank you Owen for highlighting such info, under the umbrella of Danone and Carrefour sponsors, which is involving the bloggers: indeed, they will offer ten free meals for every blog article published about the Restos du Coeur. So Indiaphragme will definitely relay and encourage such initiative. I live in India where poor people are so many, and there are still some people in my home country who live in horrible conditions (needy and homeless people). Such matter is as "violent", as unacceptable as it can be here in India. Please pass on information too. Thank you.

Nul doute que "Les Restos du Coeur" semblera très familier à celles et ceux qui habitent en France. Pour la 25è année consécutive, cette association menée par des bénévoles, assure la distribution de repas gratuits (entre autres actions) aux plus démunis et sans abris pendant les mois d'hiver (mais pas seulement)...

Actuellement, il existe une initiative (merci Owen de l'avoir portée à notre attention) qui mérite que l'on parle d'elle puisqu'elle associe le monde des blogs à une action de solidarité/dons. Les sponsors Danone et Carrefour offriront 10 repas gratuits aux Restos du coeur pour tout article de blog publié à cet égard. J'ai souhaité qu'Indiaphragme relaie l'information et contribue, très modestement, à cette opération de solidarité. Je vis en Inde où les démunis sont si nombreux, et dans mon pays natal, il y a toujours des hommes et des femmes qui vivent dans les conditions difficiles, de faim, et sans logement. Selon moi, c'est tout aussi "violent" et inacceptable qu'ici en Inde. Relayez l'information svp. Merci.

This is part of the ruins of Quwwat-ul-Islam, said to be the first mosque in India, built by Qutb-ud-din in 1193. It incorporated material from numerous Hindu temples which were destroyed by the Muslim conquerors.

Pas Seulement un Morceau de Tissu - "Not Just a Piece of Cloth"

For those who followed Indiaphragme yesterday... "napkin" was a sign.... Indeed they re-use the cotton material to create sanitary napkin... On this shot, you will see the process, and how to get a pack of 5 pads ready for dispatch. Women can not afford them and some even died from infection (lack of hygien, education etc). Goonj website will tell more about that concept.

Pour celles et ceux qui ont suivi Indiaphragme hier... "napkin" était en effet un indice...En effet ils réutilisent les pièces de coton afin de créer des serviettes hygiéniques... Sur ce cliché, vous observerez le process pour obtenir un paquet de 5 serviettes prêt à être expédié. Les femmes ne peuvent se procurer ces articles et sont même parfois décédées en raison d'infection (manque d'hygiène, d'éducation etc). Le site de Goonj en parle en détail (en anglais et hindi seulement).

Les vêtements deviennent Matière Première - Clothes become Raw Material

There are some clothes that Goonj does not re-use for dispatch to the needy villages (not Indian style or simply because they need that material for extra purpose). Therefore, they use the ones made in cotton as raw material for a very special use... you will see it in a few days but at this stage, here is the raw material.

Il y a des vêtements que Goonj ne réutilise pas tels que (soit parce que ce n'est pas de style indie, soit parce qu'ils ont besoin de cette matière première complémentaire), pour ensuite les distribuer aux villages nécessiteux. Par conséquent, ceux qui sont en coton serviront de matière première pour une utilisation très spéciale... vous le verrez dans quelques jours, dans ce laps de temps voici la matière première !

Prêt pour l'expédition - Ready for shipment

Once the clothes are sorted out, and even darned, they are gathered into big and solid bags, ready for shipment and delivery to the Indian families who will need them. There are some other uses for clothes, which will probably suprise you... stay tuned!

Une fois que les vêtements sont triés, parfois recousus ou réparés, ils sont rassemblés dans de larges sacs, solides, prêts à être expédiés et livrés auprès des familles indiennes qui en auront le besoin. Mais ce n'est pas tout.... Il y a d'autres usages du vêtement, de ceux qui ne manqueront pas de vous étonner.... à suivre !
